Preparatory Events for Co-education
Since the appointment of Ms Donna Nguyen as Transition Coordinator for co-education, a range of events have been developed. Such events include transition afternoons for 2022 enrolled girls, co-education information evenings for prospective girls and their families, extensive staff Professional Development around gender development and learning, as well as Donna meeting with each 2022 enrolled girl and her family. Even from these few examples of many, it is evident that extensive preparations for staff and students is well underway.
Should you have any questions any aspect related to our preparations for co-education, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Donna Nguyen (Transition coordinator), Mr Neville Atkinson (Business Manager) or myself. Likewise, any member of staff would be very happy to assist.
As per the campaign to announce co-education, Together We Grow.
Enrolments Update
While not only linked with co-education, maximum student numbers have been reached for 2022 in many year levels throughout our Primary and Middle Years. To aid this significant interest, our College has again reviewed our enrolment policy with an understanding that we may not have positions available for some families in 2022 and beyond.
For example, we will aim to finalise 2023 enrolments in the middle of this year and work towards finalising enrolments for 2024 by year’s end. Your assistance in prompting the enrolment of any family considering St Paul’s for their son or daughter, would be appreciated.
Building and Grounds Update
There are several updates regarding buildings and grounds, including current construction underway to expand bathroom facilities in Primary Years and ready co-education facilities that are safe and welcoming.
Mossop Construction and Interiors have been appointed as builders for our redevelopment and are commissioned to refurbish the Wilson Building (previously including our Resource Centre). Mossop have a welcome connection as old scholars of St Paul’s College, while their work was commissioned on its own merit. We look forward to this partnership with Mossop for work that will conclude for opening in Term 4.
Our main courtyard redevelopment and replacement of the secondary amenities block is a combined project that has concluded its tender process, whereby the successful builder will be commissioned and communicated in coming weeks. Stay tuned for this important appointment of builder and news of the construction start-date.

Dear Primary Families,
As the halfway mark of the term approaches, we have seen many exciting learning opportunities presented, wonderful achievements from students, and their friendships strengthen. I look forward to watching the continuation and progress in these areas for the remainder of the term.
Student Representative Council (SRC)
You may or may not be aware that we now have a Primary SRC up and running for the first time ever at St Paul’s College. We met formally last week and will hold fortnightly meetings for the remainder of the year.
Our Student Representative Council (SRC) is a student-based group designed to foster school spirit and leadership among primary students. The members of the SRC change each year to maintain a fresh approach and a strong student voice within the school. Members are leaders who help to create and nurture constructive ideas within the school community. They are approachable students who are representatives of our student body.

Year 3 Rite of Passage
The Year 3 Rite of Passage is based on the philosophy of Ubuntu. The word comes from the Zulu language. Children at this age are developing an understanding that they are a part of community. This is more than belonging to a family, it is about recognising that you have an impact on the lives of others around you and the world you live in, including the environment. Slowly they evolve to an understanding that their actions can make such a difference.
Students are asked questions like:
- How do you choose to be kind? Kind to yourself, kind to others and kind to the environment.
- What difference are you prepared to make in your world?
- Who has helped to create your story that makes you the person you are becoming?
We will celebrate with Fr. Michael this week and look forward to seeing our Year 3 students and families complete their second rite of passage at St Paul’s College.
Staffing Update
There will be a change of teachers in year 3/4 as we farewell Mr Cameron Howe, please see the attached letter for more details:

Since the announcement of our move to co-education from 2022, a Working Party led by Mrs Emily Sayer, with the assistance of two parent representatives and five staff, has been meeting and consulting with various stakeholders to:
- Appoint a uniform supplier who would design and manufacture our new uniform for girls,
- Recommend any changes to our existing boy’s uniform; and to
- Review our Uniform Policy.
Following a rigorous tender process, Midford were appointed late last year as the new supplier of our College uniform. Since their appointment, the Working Party have been meeting with their designers to determine the style, fabric and make up of our new uniform. Whilst this process has not been completely finalised, much work has been undertaken and sampling of new garments is currently in train. This is an exciting time and we look forward to sharing the new and updated uniform shortly.
Our Uniform Shop Manager Mrs Betty Allan has also advised her intention to retire (at a date to be agreed). With her blessing, the opportunity was taken to review the operation of the Uniform Shop and it was determined that outsourcing the operations to Midford was the best model moving into the future. The Uniform Shop will continue to operate on site from its current location with expanded hours as follows:
- Tuesday 8.00am – 4.00pm
- Wednesday 1.00pm – 5.00pm
- Thursday 1.00pm – 5.00pm
In addition, Midford will be investing significant money to refit the shop so that customers can enjoy a better retail experience and to display stock more effectively. To enable this to take place, the Uniform Shop will close for 5 weeks so that the refit can take place. The final day of trading will be on Wednesday 9 June, with the shop reopening on Tuesday 20 July. We apologise for the inconvenience but look forward to a new and exciting relationship with Midford.

On Wednesday 19th May, the primary students enjoyed participating in the annual event of National Simultaneous Storytime. It was an astronomical event whereby our students were part of the 1, 980,280 participates across Australia and New Zealand at 33,418 locations who joined in reading Phillip Bunting’s book “Give me some Space!”. A great way to celebrate 21 years of promoting the value of reading and literacy.
Students viewed a digital reading of the book read by Dr Shannon Walker, NASA astronaut reading from the International Space Station. This was followed by students participating in a range of activities based on the themes in the book. Activities included yoga, paper astronauts, space invaders and trying their hand at a number of astronaut tests just to name a few.
The boys had a blast with many looking forward to participating again next year. It was great to see students helping one another, enjoying the activities they were undertaking, having fun and being creative.
Thank you to the Primary staff who facilitated running activities on the day. Without their support and encouragement, the students would not have been able to have so much fun.

On Wednesday the 19th of May, St Paul’s College held the first Activity Afternoon for the Year 7/8 girls commencing in 2022. The girls enjoyed getting to know each other through participating in team building and craft activities. It was an afternoon filled with creativity, fun conversations and much laughter. Thank you to all of the students that attended. It was great to get to know you all. We look forward to seeing you again in term 3!

Below are a few links to the CoSpaces students in my class have created. Their task was to replicate an area of the school using the CoSpaces program. In doing so they will develop the coding, planning and development skills needed to successfully complete their Dry Creek Sustainability Project later in the term.
