St Paul 's rich Pastoral Care program cares for boys as individuals in the spirit of
Edmund Rice and Christian Brothers. Every child is given personal attention from their Pastoral
Care teacher, who is responsible for the care and welfare of their students.
This relationship is further enhanced through our Religious Education program, which,
like language, literacy and numeracy, permeates school life.
In Middle School, Pastoral Care involves a coordinated program which emphasises
building the relationships and skills required to meet the challenges of transition from middle schooling into the Senior School. Learning life skills is combined with a wide
range of cultural, musical, social and sporting activities.
Orientation days, family barbecues, and student mentor programs also help Middle
School students to settle quickly into College life.
In Senior School, students are vertically grouped with small numbers of boys meeting
daily every morning, and in one weekly lesson with their Pastoral Care teacher.
These weekly Pastoral Care lessons include:
> leadership training
> exam preparation
>
study guidance
>
inter-house sporting competitions
>
social functions
>
opportunities to discuss personal and academic issues with their Pastoral Care teacher on a one-to-one basis.
Teachers maintain close contact with parents, who are informed regularly of their son's progress, and who are also encouraged to be part of the St Paul's community.
In essence, St Paul 's Pastoral Care program focuses on meeting the needs of the boys'
in a holistic sense, where achievement, leadership and compassion are seen as the foundations for a well-rounded individual.
