Year 12 Results

Written on the 2 February 2017 by Mr Paul Belton

Our Year 12 students' results last year were outstanding and a great credit to them, their families and our staff across the whole school. There is a beautiful African proverb that says, "It takes a whole village to raise a child". This is very true in all aspects of life and certainly very true in the area of education.

William Abbot was our Dux with an ATAR of 98.95 and the Proxime Accessit was Fernando Grandioso with an ATAR of 97.55.

The number of students with an ATAR above 90 (13 - 21.7%) is our best result, as is the number between 80-90 (16 - 26.7%).

This combined means that for St Paul's, 48.4% of our cohort were placed in the top 20% of students across the state. We are very proud of that.

Other highlights include our highest percentage of students achieving an ATAR (79.4%), and our highest median ATAR (79.4), which is nine above our previous best.

21.4% of the grades achieved by the boys were in the A band and across 13 different subject areas.

The subject of Business and Enterprise, taught by Mr Robert Nak continues to be the shining light in terms of outstanding achievement. In a class of 27 there were 20 As and 6 Bs which is an outstanding performance.

Other successes include the 100% success rates in all English classes (including EAL) which is very significant for St Paul's, together with 100% success in all Specialist Maths and Science (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) areas.

In addition to these of course is the significant number of students who successfully completed their Certificate I or II courses with TAFE and other RTOs.
